Mate Chat

MateChat is Autom Mate’s embedded web chat solution that allows organizations to integrate AI Agents directly into their websites, portals, or internal applications.

With MateChat, users can interact with AI Agents through a simple chat interface embedded into any webpage. This enables organizations to provide AI-powered automation, self-service capabilities, and intelligent support without requiring users to access external systems.

MateChat acts as a communication channel between website visitors and Autom Mate AI Agents.


How MateChat Works

When a visitor interacts with the MateChat widget, the following process occurs:

  1. A user opens the chat widget embedded on the website.

  2. The user sends a message through the chat interface.

  3. The message is sent to the Autom Mate AI Agent.

  4. The AI Agent processes the request using natural language understanding.

  5. If necessary, the AI Agent communicates with connected enterprise systems (such as ServiceNow, Xurrent, or ServiceDesk Plus).

  6. The response is returned to the user through the chat interface.

This allows organizations to provide automated support and service interactions directly on their website.


Prerequisites

Before embedding MateChat on your website, ensure the following requirements are met:

  • An Autom Mate account

  • An AI Agent configured in AI Agent Composer

  • MateChat enabled for the AI Agent

  • Access to the website where the widget will be embedded


Installing the MateChat Widget

MateChat can be added to any website by embedding a small JavaScript snippet.

Embed Script

Copy the following script and paste it into your website's HTML just before the closing </body> tag.

Installation Steps

  1. Copy the embed script from the MateChat setup panel.

  2. Open your website’s HTML file.

  3. Paste the script just before the closing </body> tag.

  4. Save and publish your website.

  5. The MateChat widget will automatically appear on your website.

Once embedded, users will see a chat bubble on the page, allowing them to start a conversation with the configured AI Agent.


MateChat Configuration

MateChat provides several configuration options that allow you to customize the appearance and behavior of the chat widget.

Configuration is managed through the MateChat Setup panel inside Autom Mate.


Appearance Settings

These settings control how the chat widget appears on your website.

Available options include:

  • Theme Choose between light or dark theme styles.

  • Position Select where the chat widget appears on the page (for example, bottom right).

  • Primary Color Customize the main color of the chat widget to match your brand.

These settings help ensure the widget integrates seamlessly with your website design.


Logo Settings

You can configure a custom logo to appear inside the chat interface.

Configuration option:

  • Logo URL Provide the URL of the logo image.

This allows organizations to display their own branding within the chat experience.


Content Settings

These settings control the text displayed to users in the chat interface.

Available fields include:

Agent Name

The name displayed for the AI Agent in the chat interface.

Welcome Message

The first message shown when a user opens the chat.

Start Conversation Text

Additional message displayed below the welcome message to encourage users to begin interacting with the AI Agent.

Formatting options such as bold, italic, and links are supported.


Rate Limits

MateChat allows you to define limits to control usage and protect system resources.

Available limits include:

Max Concurrent Sessions

Defines how many chat sessions can run simultaneously.

Max Requests Per Minute

Defines the maximum number of requests that can be processed per minute.

Example:

These limits help ensure stable performance under high usage.


Widget Behavior

Once installed:

  • A chat bubble appears on the website.

  • Users can click the bubble to open the chat interface.

  • Conversations are handled by the configured Autom Mate AI Agent.

  • Responses are returned instantly within the chat window.
